Scheduling

Since most of us "seniors" just finished up scheduling today, i would like to know how you feel about the new scheduling system. For me, it was actually pretty fast and easy, and i didnt have to worry about getting "timed out" once i was in and had my numbers plugged in. From my understanding the new system still has a lot of things wrong with it. My problem was however, not enough class space for the seniors. Since most of us only have 2 more semesters left, we cant stay any longer than we have too. I always wondered whhy certain classes were only in the fall or spring. I think we should invest in more teachers which will in turn be able to open more sections so we dont really have to worry about if were going to graduate on time. All i have to say is one more semester of scheduling, and this girl is outttta here!!!

  1. Ferg! I completely agree. I am in the same boat as you are and it was tough to schedule this semester. What got me was having to schedule my classes in sequence. Its scary knowing you are going to be graduating soon and you have to have all your classes planned out for the rest of your time here. I cant believe how close were getting to graduation! Its awesome but so sad! Hopefully they get this system working smoothly so we dont have to go through this again! See you soon :)

  2. I also thought the new system worked much better. The only issue I came across was certain classes were not scheduling causing major problems. I could not schedule motor development and needed to have Ms. Spadine-Taylor sign me in. I know lots of others who had problems scheduling PE 452 as well causing some chaos, but in the end I believe this system was the best move for SRU.

  3. I agree, i think the new system is alot easier to use then the rocktalk version. It is alot simpler and takes some of the stress out of scheduling. I got scheduled in less then 5 minutes for 6 classes. It also makes the master schedule alot easier to navigate.

  4. I agree with the new system being much quicker and more efficient so that it helps take the stress off of scheduling. But I would also have to say that it definately was confusing at first, and the university could of done a better job of explaining how it works. Also, the master course schedule was all messed up when i scheduled, it would say that there were all kinds of openings but in reality there were almost no opening. I typed in all of the classes I needed and I only got one class out of the seven that i typed in. Even though the master course schedule said that there were openings in every one of those classes. There are definately changes that need to be made to help scheduling be less confusing but it is nice to be quick like it is right now.

  5. Scheduling is much easier but for the first group to schedule I found a lot of problems and glitches in the system. I only got to schedule half of my classes and then the rest I had to get signed into. It was kind of a pain but I'm glad everything worked out. Hopefully in time the new system gets better for the students to use! I have had problems scheduling since freshman year, it's frustrating when 50-60 students need 1 class and there's 20 seats. With the budget cuts everywhere I doubt they will hire any more professors which is also frustrating considering the tuition we pay to go here.
